The House System at Manik Public School creates a strong sense of community and belonging. Through academics, sports, cultural activities, competitions, and shared responsibilities, students learn to collaborate, lead, and contribute with confidence.
Each House carries the name and legacy of an inspiring figure associated with Maniknagar, along with a distinctive crest and motto that reflects the values it represents.

Manohar House

Manohar House is named after Shri Manohar Manik Prabhu Maharaj, the second Peethadhipati of Shri Manik Prabhu Samsthan. Shri Manik Prabhu Maharaj anointed his 7-year old nephew Manohar as his successor before attaining Mahasamadhi in 1865. At that tender age, Shri Manohar Prabhu ascended the holy peetha and ably carried forward Shri Prabhu’s legacy. He had mastered the Shastras and was a prolific poet in Sanskrit and also composed numerous stotras, padas and abhangas in various languages. He oversaw the construction of Shri Prabhu Mandir which is an architectural masterpiece. Shri Manohar Prabhu attained Sanjeevani Mahasamadhi at the age of 19 years.
Crest: Deepa — symbolising wisdom
Motto: तेजसां हि न वयः समीक्ष्यते
Meaning: Knowledge and spiritual radiance do not depend on age.

Narasimha House

Narasimha House is named after Shri Narasimha Babasaheb Maharaj. Babasaheb Maharaj was the elder son of Shri Martand Manik Prabhu Maharaj. He served as the Secretary of the Samsthan and contributed immensely to the development of Maniknagar. He was one of the first people from this region to receive a modern English education and it was his cherished desire that children from our region should receive the same. This desire later materialised in the form of the Manik Public School due the efforts of Shri Siddharaj Manik Prabhu Maharaj.
Crest: Lion — symbolising courage and strength
Motto: स्वयमेव मृगेंद्रता
Meaning: True leadership and greatness are earned through one’s own strength and valour.

Lakshmibai House

Lakshmibai House is named after Matoshri Lakshmibai Saheb, mother of our founder Shri Siddharaj Manik Prabhu Maharaj. After the Mahasamadhi of Shri Shankar Manik Prabhu Maharaj, the responsibility of bringing-up six-year-old Siddharaj Maharaj fell on her shoulders. She made the difficult decision of sending her only son to the Scindia School, 1300 kilometers away from home, which resulted in the all-round development of Shreeji’s personality. Matoshri Lakshmibai Saheb was a pillar of strength to Shreeji throughout her life.
Crest: Lotus — symbolising purity and enlightenment
Motto: कन्ये ममाग्रतो भूया
Meaning: Let our daughters always be ahead of us.

Mahipati House

Mahipati House is named after Shri Mahipati Bhausaheb Maharaj, the younger son of Shri Martand Manik Prabhu Maharaj. Bhausaheb Maharaj assisted his elder brother Shri Babasaheb Maharaj in the administration and overall development of the Samsthan. He attained Mahasamadhi at the tender age of 20 years.
Crest: Mashaal — symbolising knowledge, valour, and courage
Motto: तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय
Meaning: Lead me from the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge.

Muktabai House

Muktabai House is named after Matoshri Muktabai Saheb, mother of Shri Shankar Manik Prabhu Maharaj. She was the niece of Shri Manik Prabhu Maharaj. She epitomised the value of selfless Seva. Every day, Muktabai Amma used to clean the entire Prabhu Mandir complex herself. The white marble flooring that we see today in Prabhu Mandir was commissioned by Muktabai Amma.
Crest: Nari Shakti — symbolising feminine strength
Motto: स्त्री हि ब्रम्हा बभूविथ
Meaning: A woman is the embodiment of supreme energy.

Siddharaj House

Siddharaj House is named after our founder Shri Siddharaj Manik Prabhu Maharaj. He was the fifth Peethadhipati of Shri Manik Prabhu Samsthan. After completing his education at the famous Scindia School in Gwalior, Shreeji felt the need for a modern-day Gurukul for the children of his region. Thus, Manik Public School was established in 1972. Shreeji was also a sportsman at heart. He is credited with introducing games such as cricket to this region. All the educational institutions owe their existence to Shreeji’s broad educational and social vision. Shri Manik Prabhu Samsthan and the Sakamata Sampradaya grew manifold during Shreeji’s time.
Crest: Book, Pen & Deepa — symbolising the flame of knowledge
Motto: श्रद्धावान् लभते ज्ञानम्
Meaning: One who has faith attains wisdom.

Shankar House

Shankar House is named after Shri Shankar Manik Prabhu Maharaj, the fourth Peethadhipati of Shri Manik Prabhu Samsthan. During his youth, Shri Shankar Prabhu served as the Secretary of the Samsthan under the guidance of his maternal uncle and Guru, Shri Martand Manik Prabhu Maharaj. After the Mahasamadhi of Shri Martand Prabhu, he ascended the holy peetha. He is credited with sowing the seeds of Educational development in Maniknagar by starting the Manik Vidyalaya in 1940.
Crest: Fruit-bearing Mango Tree — symbolising humility
Motto: विद्या विनयेन शोभते
Meaning: Knowledge shines through humility.

Martand House

Martand House is named after Shri Martand Manik Prabhu Maharaj. He was the third Peethadhipati of Shri Manik Prabhu Samsthan. During his youth, Shri Maharaj was a great patron of Indian sports such as Kushti, Malkhamb, Swimming, Horse-Riding, Archery and Swimming. He is credited for spreading Shri Prabhu’s teachings far and wide and also opening the doors of Vedanta philosophy to the common man through his simple yet impactful writing. He was a prolific composer and writer in Marathi, Urdu, Hindi, Sanskrit and Kannada and also a renowned musicologist. The Samsthan and Maniknagar attained newer heights under his visionary leadership.
Crest: Sun — symbolising illumination and wisdom
Motto: मयि सूर्यो भ्राजो दधातु
Meaning: May the Sun grant me wisdom.

It was the vision of Shri Siddharaj Manik Prabhu Maharaj, inspired by his formative years at the prestigious Scindia School, Gwalior, that led to the establishment of a CBSE co-educational boarding school amidst the serene hillocks of Manigiri in 1972. At that time, the very idea of creating such an institution in this region appeared as formidable as the hills themselves. Yet, through determination, faith, and collective effort, that vision has flourished into a remarkable educational movement.
For over five decades, The Manik Public School has evolved into a distinguished centre of learning for the people of Kalyana Karnataka and beyond. Today, we proudly stand as a truly multilingual and multicultural institution, nurturing students from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and many other parts of the country.
Over the years, the The Manik Public School has built a rich legacy of excellence in academics, sports, arts, life skills, and co-curricular activities. From a modest beginning with only a few buildings in 1972, the campus has expanded significantly while retaining its founding values and ethos. Our vibrant residential community now comprises six houses — Siddharaj House, Shankar House, and Martand House for boys, and Laxmibai House and Muktabai House for girls — each fostering leadership, camaraderie, discipline, and healthy competition.
It is indeed a matter of immense pride that the The Manik Public School continues to educate and nurture more than 500 students year after year, while consistently achieving laurels in both academic and non-academic spheres.
As I assume the responsibilities of the Officiating Principal, I consider it a privilege and honour to lead Team MPS and carry forward this unique journey of spiritual and academic excellence, harmoniously complemented by sports, skills, and holistic development. While we have embraced technology and transformed ourselves into an IT-enabled institution, we continue to cherish our timeless traditions of prayer, meditation, and value-based education.
