Shri Manik Prabhu Shikshan Samiti, a registered Non-Profit Organisation, was established in 1967 in the largely underdeveloped and neglected North Karnataka Region. This institution is named after the great philosopher and saint Shri Sadguru Manik Prabhu Maharaj who propagated Sakalamat Siddhant-the gospel of universal brotherhood and love. For the last five decades the Samiti has been working tirelessly towards the holistic development of the youth of the region by contributing to Education, Sports and Art & Culture.
Recently, the Academy has been accredited as a Khelo India Centre under the Khelo India Talent Development Programme by the Ministry of Sports for these four disciplines: Badminton, Athletics, Swimming and Basketball.

Pioneering Institution in the Development of Sports:

With the intention of inculcating a sporting attitude and spirit in sections of our society that are bereft of top class facilities and providing much needed guidance to the youth in the region, the Samiti established the Manik Sports Academy (earlier known as Manik Prabhu Kreeda Mandal). The main objective of the Academy is to train the rural youth in different sports disciplines. To fulfill this objective the Academy has developed Sporting infrastructure in Maniknagar, Humnabad taluka, Bidar district, Karnataka-585 353, India, which includes facilities like:
Swimming Pool, Basketball Court, Badminton Court, Cricket Ground (Turf), Athletic and Running Track – 400 meters

Sporting Activities :

The Academy has been regularly organising tournaments, training camps, lectures and workshops in order to promote sports in rural areas. This includes Inter-School and Inter-District and State Level and Inter-State Competitions in assorted disciplines.

Encouragement of the Differently Abled through Sports :

Along with its regular activities, the Academy has specifically contributed towards the well-being and integration of the differently Abled by conducting State Level Cricket Tournaments, a State Level Chess Tournament and a State Level Swimming Competition (for the first time in the State of Karnataka) for the visually impaired. On the eve of International Disabled Day, the Academy conducts an Athletic Meet for the visually impaired on a regular basis. The Academy proposes to set up a Centre for Excellence in Sports for the differently abled in Maniknagar which will provide specialized training in Athletics and Sports to the aspiring differently abled young children.

Upliftment of the Underprivileged :

The Academy conducts a District Level Kho Kho Competition for Orphans. The Academy also conducts a District Level Kabaddi Competition for the Backward Class and Minority Youth.

Past Collaboration with the State and Central Governments :

The Karnataka State Government has constructed a Multi Discipline Taluka Level Sports Stadium in Maniknagar with the active assistance of the Academy on land that was donated by the Academy. The Academy has constructed a Category II Olympic Standard Swimming Pool with the assistance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

Achievement :

In November 2020, the Government of Karnataka, recognising the Academy’s work of over five decades in the field of sports, honoured it with Karnataka Kreeda Poshak Prashasti for the year 2020.
